- Since Columbus did not discover America, we are open (on Columbus Day).
- We honor but do not close the school on (Veteran's Day). We are open for classes.

- Christmas/Hannukah/Kwanzaa, Thursday, December 23, 2010 through Sunday, January 2, 2011 we are CLOSED. School opens Mon. January 4, 2011

Summer Camps, Institute, and Private Lessons |

These camps and institutes are open to participants from anywhere in the world. OMS does not offer lodging or meals, but is open to those who wish to attend. Students who have attended over the past 5 years have come from around Maryland, Virginia, the District of Columbia, as well as from California, New York, New Jersey, Florida, Trinidad and Tobago, and the Virgin Islands. REGISTRATION for the 2011 Summer Camps is in December, 2010 through January 31, 2011, giving 6 months to pay for the summer camps or for lessons.2004-2010 summer day camps were held at OTTLEY MUSIC SCHOOL, 6525 Belcrest Road, Hyattsville, MD 20782 with wonderful results. Check the Gallery for photos. SUMMER 2011. This summer session will be the entire summer, from June 6-August 21, 14 weeks. Students can choose the weeks that they will be in attendance for their private lessons, and pay for those weeks. In addition, several all day camps/institutes will be offered, so that besides their major instrument or voice lessons, participants also learn to play the harp, African drums, steel drums and dance. They study music theory, ear-training, and music history. At the end of each camp there is a recital or a concert. Summer participants are frequently given opportunity to perform in local events outside of the school. More information to come in the fall. Books and other materials for all camps, institutes, classes, and private lessons are not included in the tuition but are paid for separately, i,e, theory and ear-training books, music for the instruments and ensembles, sheet music for vocalists, drama and dancers, or anything that they keep. Summer Private Lessons:· You can choose to register for 3 weeks, 4 weeks, 5 weeks or all 6 weeks. All books and materials for lessons are paid for separately and are not included in the tuition. · $35.00 per 30-minute private lesson each instrument · $52.50 per 45-minute private lesson each instrument · $70.00 per 60-minute private lesson each instrument . $35 per 14- week term Recital fee |
Summer Office Hours- Mondays through Thurdays 8:15 am through 6:30 pm
- Fridays 8:15 am through 5:00 pm, except for the recitals, which are 5:30-7:30 pm Fridays.
School Year Office HoursOffice hours from August and throughout the school year are from 10:00 am to 7:30 pm M-Th and to 4:30 pm on Fridays. Lessons and classes are taught till 9:00 pm M-Th and till 5:00 on Fridays. We are closed on Saturdays and Sundays except for concerts off campus. |
