The Ottley Music School offers MUSIC FOR LITTLE MOZARTS Program, specifically geared to pre-school and first grade students (with their parents in Class).  This curriculum provides a balance between the discipline necessary for playing the piano and the enjoyment the child receives from the process of music making.  Besides learning to play the piano, the program includes singing, body motions with music, ear-training, and other musical activities.  The classes center on the adventures of Beethoven Bear and Mozart Mouse, and later J.S. Bunny, Professor Haydn Hippo, Pachelbel Penguin, Nannerl Mouse, and other such musical characters as they learn about music.  There are additional music history stories of other composers that are from Africa, the Caribbean, South America, and other places, and activities such as visits to the Hyattsville Library down the street and musical videos.

Materials for the class and available at OMS:

  • Music Lesson Book 1, 2, 3 and 4 (depending on where the child has progressed if already studying in a class).
